About Zakke
Zakke is nine piece original band from Washington D.C. known for their Latin Fusion Style and their high-energy level performances. Zakke’s music blends the Latin rhythms with a blast of Funk, Ska, Disco and Rock beats. All together producing one strong mix of sounds and catchy lyrics, proving through dance and sweat that La Fiesta Zakke is more than just a band. It’s a PARTY!
The Band was formed in 2011 by singer-composer Max Velasquez , along with guitarist Felipe Bohorkez, drummer Santiago Granja and bass player Jorge Espinoza, (The Originial Line-up) together they started to play the DC's Latin rock scene, “Crimen y Castigo” and “Demencia” were some of their first original material to be released in 2012.
A Year later keyboardist Manuel Medina, percussionist Sergio Rosario, drummer Jorge Carranza and trumpet player Felix Carrera joined the band, by 2013 Zakke began their music transformation which it would become their signature sound. Songs like “Maldita Suerte”, “Hit & Run” and “Arrepentido” manifest their early influence into the Latin beats and rock patterns.
In 2015 the band continued to grow in size and sound; trumpet player Ivan Perez, keyboardist Fernando Vidarte, female bass player Lula Neira, trombone player Jonathan Spencer, Tenor Saxophone Player Gabriel Lora and Conga/Timbales player Camilo Diaz joined the band; making of Zakke a melting pot of musical backgrounds. That year, songs like “La China” and “La Otra Cara del Universo” were among Zakke’s singles to have elements of Funk and Latin rhythms or as they call it “Tropi-Funk”.
Zakke’s latest single “Hit & Run” is a blend of Songo & Soft Rock released in September 2018. Zakke has played numerous shows and festivals with a diverse list of artists that includes Jarabe de Palo, Amigos Invisibles, Ozomatli, Aterciopelados, Rabanes, Mexrrissey, Autenticos Decadentes, Vilma Palma, Rawayana, to name a few.
